Although chiropractic adjustment has been beneficial to a wide range of patients, there are still many common misconceptions associated with the practice.

Let’s take a look at some of the most common myths and misconceptions about chiropractic care and see how it can improve anyone’s overall holistic health and wellness.

Myth #1: Adjustments Are Dangerous

Chiropractic care is a natural and safe alternative to other medicine. Chiropractors go through extensive training to understand and master the techniques used in chiropractic care.

At Warsaw Chiropractic, we use the Gonstead Method which focuses on full-body wellness. Unlike other medicines, we address the symptoms, then we work with our patients to discover and treat the source of the pain.

Myth #2: Once You Start Going To The Chiropractor You’ll Have To Go Forever

Although regular chiropractor appointments are recommended, it’s not required. Many patients find relief after just a few appointments depending on their unique needs.

Patients should never be pressured by their chiropractor to continue care unless they deem it necessary. Ongoing care is often recommended for best results, but the decision is ultimately up to each patient.

Myth #3: Chiropractors Only Address Back Pain

While chiropractors are most commonly used for ongoing neck and back pain, it’s not the only service that chiropractors provide. Many chiropractors focus on the holistic health and wellness of their patients and provide services catered to specific parts of your overall health and wellness.

At Warsaw Chiropractic, along with general chiropractic care, we offer weight management services, functional nutrition, corporate wellness classes, pediatric care, pregnancy care, and other specialized workshops designed for everyone in our community to learn and grow.

Myth #4: Kids Can’t Go To The Chiropractor

People often believe that only adults can receive chiropractic care. This is far from true. Children as young as newborns can receive chiropractic care, and it’s often recommended they do so. Plus, getting your child in for regular appointments with your local chiropractor can often mean less invasive medical procedures for your child in the future.

We care for our young patients the same way we treat adults at Warsaw Chiropractic, gently through the use of the Gonstead method. Our doctors never twist or rotate your child’s spine while completing adjustments. We use light, gentle pressure to complete adjustments on your child.

Myth #5: Chiropractors Aren’t Real Doctors

Even though chiropractic practices are different from other medical practices, it doesn’t mean they are not doctors. Chiropractors must undergo extensive education and training before earning their degrees and have more than 500 hours more study in anatomy, physiology, and neurology than an MD’s curriculum. Their rigorous coursework and training allow them to holistically diagnose and approach patient care.
